Balance out Bata
If you have lived in Africa, you know Bata shoes. The famous red lettering is all over cities in Africa and stirs your heart with excitement for cute shoes. They look amazing, but they are not that comfortable for me long term! Not just Bata, many shoes in other countries are painful, but that is all you can get. Thank you God, for Dr. Scholl's inserts.
This is one of the number one regrets I have from living in Uganda, that I had not made Dr. Scholl's a regular part of my life. If I would have had these inserts, I could have enjoyed Bata so much more! As I am aging, yes, Dr. Scholl's inserts have even made it into my slippers...
Here is what Bata would look like in Kampala, at the mall. This image is from Google images.
Here is the Kabale Bata... I had a little bit of culture shock going shoe shopping. Mostly we bought used in the market, but if we were going fancy, we could buy new at Bata.
There is not a lot of pesky concrete and pavement in Uganda and you walk almost everywhere, so shoes and taking care of your feet moved up on my priority list!
I first learned of Dr. Scholl's,not in America, but in Hungary! They have boutique stores all over and those working people KNOW that Dr. Scholl's shoes are the only way to survive communist work hours. I was there in 1995, so Hungary was still in transition and people working long hours and not a lot of luxury items. These shoes were everywhere, they look like crocs almost, but even better for your feet and more stable.
These stores were everywhere. Looks like they have moved on from the white clogs I remember, but this is the yellow sign!
So, if you are moving to a place where you will be walking a lot OR you are moving into your 40's in the USA, try Dr. Scholl's inserts, it will change your life.
